Somali refugees stand by their tents at Dadaab in north-west Kenya.

Since the resumption of the violence in Mogadishu in May 2009, more than a quarter of a million people have fled their homes. Some have found safety in other parts of Somalia while others have fled to neighbouring countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Yemen.

UNHCR is on the ground providing life saving assistance to hundreds of thousands of Somalis who have been forced from their homes, but we can’t do it alone. We rely almost entirely on contributions from governments and individuals like you.

Together we can make a real difference to the lives of those displaced by the horrific violence in Somalia.
