Give Shelter, Save Lives

Whether UNHCR is providing assistance to Somalis who have fled to neighbouring countries or those who remain displaced within Somalia, shelter is essential.  

UNHCR provides assistance to vulnerable displaced Somalis through the distribution of aid packages. which include: a plastic sheet, a sleeping mat, a kitchen set, three blankets, two jerry cans and emergency shelter materials.  Many of the Somali refugees that UNHCR helps have no belongings – receiving an emergency shelter package can often make the difference between life and death.

Recent aid distribution:

In Since the beginning of 2010, more than 14,000 Somalis have been displaced by renewed fighting in southern and central Somalia. To assist the displaced, UNHCR is carrying out a distribution of emergency shelter items, kitchen sets, jerry cans, and sanitation and hygiene items.
